Safkeg-LS Model # 3979A

With the issue of certificate USA/9337/B(U)-96 on January 24, 2011
The Safkeg-LS, developed by Croft LTD for the University of Missouri and manufactured exclusively by CHT, is used for shipping radioisotopes produced by the Missouri University Research Reactor (MURR). These radioisotopes are used principally in a variety of medical applications including diagnostic kits and cancer-fighting radio-pharmaceuticals.

Safkeg-HS

Safkeg-HS, which is a similar package to the Safkeg-LS, has uranium shielding built into the inner shielding pot. This package was developed by Croft LTD for shipping radioisotopes that historically have been shipped in a DOT Spec 20WC1 for which
the DOT package authorization expired on October 1, 2008. The Containment Vessel (CV) having Depleted Uranium (DU) shielding can be seen in front of the keg outer container. The red items are cork packing in which the CV is carried.
Similarly to the Safekeg-LS, CHT is also the exclusive manufacturer of the Safekeg-HS.

PARTS AND SERVICE

To keep packages on the road and in use for as long as possible, CHT provides a complete refurbishment and re-certification service, through which most damaged packages can be repaired and restored to an acceptable condition for transportation.

CHT can provide any replacement part for any product we manufacture: valves, gaskets, Type A and Type B OP cylinders, inner shells and pads, shackles, vent plugs, even valve protection devices.

After a package has completed its use cycle, CHT can provide turnkey destruction and disposal services and ensure that old packages are dismantled and that all the constituent parts are correctly disposed.
